Be sure to always wear clothing (such as a t-shirt) to cover the application site until you wash the areas well with soap and water. Before dressing, wait a few minutes for the application site to dry completely. The dosage is based on your medical condition, lab tests, and response to treatment. Do not let others apply this medication to your body. Check your product's instructions or ask your pharmacist if your brand may be applied to the abdomen. If you expect to have skin-to-skin contact with another person, first wash the application area well with soap and water. Women and children should avoid contact with the unwashed or unclothed area where the medication has been applied. Direct contact with the application site can expose others to this medication. In patients with diabetes, especially those taking insulin, testosterone may decrease your blood sugar. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medications. Be prepared to treat low blood sugar while you are using this medication. Your doctor may control your blood pressure with medication. This medication may raise your blood pressure. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Avoid smoking or being near open flames while using the medication and until the medication has dried. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. You do not have to prime your pump every day, only the first time you use it. Before you begin treatment, there are a few things you should know about application. If you are using packets, open the packet and dispense the gel into the palm of your hand or directly onto the application site. Whether you are using pump or packet, make sure your shoulders and upper arms are clean and dry and that there is no broken skin. Tell your healthcare provider about all of the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements. AndroGel (testosterone gel) 1% CIII is available packaged with 2 x 75 g pumps (each pump dispenses 60 metered 1.25 g doses) or in a box of 30 packets with 2.5g or 5g gel.
